Auction Grade Definitions

Auctions Grade Breakdown

*Note grades are simply a first glance measure of what the auction house deems the most accurate depiction of the vehicle. YATESPEED recommends a visual inspection of the vehicle by our team ($125 fee) to get a more accurate representation prior to bidding/purchasing.

Exterior Grades

5 – flawless/new vehicle. Typically not given to cars that fall under the 25 year importation law

4.5 – near flawless. Mileage typically under 100k km (~62k miles). Typically no repair marks/scratches/dents.

4 – great condition. Vehicle has typically not been in any sort of accident or had panels replaced. Mileage is typically under 150k km (~93k miles)

3.5 – good condition. Vehicle can sometimes have visible scratches/panels replaced/small rust or dents. YATESPEED typically recommends cars in this range or higher

3 – good condition. Similar to grade 3.5, however the known defects or issues become more visible and transparent (example – scratches are more noticeable, dents are larger, rust is more prominent etc)

2 – Vehicle can be considered in rough shape. Accidents that maybe have not been repaired or repaired well, car was drifted, significant rust etc. Typically a vehicle that would not pass a state inspection in the US.

1 – Flooded / severely damaged vehicles. Considered project vehicles at best

RA – car has typically been in any sort accident but has been repaired. Refer to auction sheet to determine which areas of the vehicle have been fixed due to damage. Car can still be considered great condition but has been fixed.

R – typically a vehicle that has been ain a significant accident. It can still be considered a good vehicle but may still need attention. Refer to details on auction sheet or request a second inspection.

Interior Grades

A –  flawless/new interior. Considered to be extremely clean with no smells/tears etc

B – near flawless interior. Typically considered neat and tidy with no rips/tears/bad odors

C – considered good condition. Can sometimes find some small stains/tears/odors that can typically be cleaned by yourself or a detailer.

D – typically considered poor condition. Cigarette odors/burns, stains, or just generally messy condition. Would likely need extensive detailing

E – typically all defects from prior grades just enhanced. Considered terrible condition insider and would need major servicing to get the interior in good condition
